Apple cider vinegar: the little-known slimming asset

Vinegar is commonly used in food: salad dressings, sauces… but we often ignore that it has an effect on weight loss. When you hear that drinking vinegar, especially cider vinegar, makes you lose weight, you have to listen.

A spoon of apple cider vinegar per meal decreases hunger

Studies have indeed shown that swallowing half a tablespoon of vinegar during a meal increases satiety and reduces appetite during the hours that follow. Vinegar can either be swallowed plain or incorporated into a preparation (salad, fish, etc.).

One scoop per meal decreases calorie absorption

Other research indicates that vinegar (a teaspoon after the meal) slows the rise of insulin and glucose. Vinegar would slow down the digestion process and the dissolution of carbohydrates, which arrive undigested in the intestine where they are broken down. This can influence caloric intake.

A hypothesis also explains that vinegar helps burn more fat, by acting on the liver. People who regularly consume vinegar would also display, on average, a more favorable body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference.

The variety of vinegar does not seem to play a particular role, but the most documented research regarding apple cider vinegar.
