Euphrasia comes from the homonymous medicinal plant, also known under the French name of euphraise or casse-lunettes. Eyebright is a plant that is part of the Scrophulariaceae botanical family. At maturity, it is relatively small (10 to 30 cm in height) and presents flowers of white, yellow and lilac color.
This plant occupies a very large place in the field of natural medicine. It owes its pharmacological properties in particular to the presence of numerous bioactive agents. Indeed, within it, it contains:
- Iridoids: euphroside, aucuboside, eurostoside or ixoroside
- Tannins and flavonoids
- Phenolic acids: chlorogenic acid, gentisic acid or proto-catechinic acid

What health problems can this medication address?
For several decades, this plant with therapeutic virtues has excelled in the treatment of eye conditions. This is also the case for this homeopathic remedy called Euphrasia.
Thus, in the ophthalmological field, the main indication for this drug is allergic conjunctivitis. By its action, it helps to soothe the symptoms that characterize this inflammation. We distinguish, among others, the eye irritation, cornea and eyelid and also the formation of ocular edema in the eyelids. In some cases, both burning and irritating tearing may occur.
This remedy not only treats the allergic conjunctivitis but also that caused by infectious agents (virus or bacteria).
ENT or otolaryngology disorders:
Euphrasia is involved in the treatment of certain ENT conditions. In particular, it allows cure disorders affecting the nasal mucous membranes. We distinguish, for example, nasopharyngitis or other seasonal diseases such as hay fever or allergic rhinitis.
The main signs of these disorders are a profuse and clear nasal discharge, sneezing, repetitive coughing and irritating tears.

Mode of administration and usual dosage
The Euphrasia homeopathic pellets are administered internally, orally. It is recommended to let the granules melt under the tongue.
For the treatment of conjunctivitis and ENT infections, take every 2 hours and outside of meals, 5 granules of 5 to 9 CH. From the first signs of improvement, it is advisable to space out the doses. The cure is to be carried out in 1 week.
For cases of allergy, the recommended daily dose is 5 granules of 9 to 15 CH per day 1 month before allergies are common. During the crisis period, take the granules as many times as necessary.
